DAY FIVE

Today we had class orientation and festival registration planned. Our class walked down to the Palais first thing in the morning and we picked up our badges. We then took a quick stroll around the festival and met up with Steve. He had a great energy and accent and gave us a run-down of the festival and told us to get excited because it really does fly by. After our meet up with Steve, I grabbed a quick lunch from the grocery store and we sat by the hotel pool to do our class. We started off with the Who’s Who test, which I do recommend studying for because its easy if you study for it and it was useful because I saw at least five people from the test at the festival

Then Meryl gave us some journaling prompts to help us get into a good mindset before the festival. She had us write down our goals in three categories, industry, career and self. I said for my industry career that I wanted to find the field that most interests me and find what I could see myself enjoying or being a part of. I wanted to find where my creative interests with tasks like video making fit into the industry. For my career goal I said that I really wanted to start networking and showing companies how I can be of use to them, especially since I felt "behind" career-wise. Lastly, my self goals were to find out what my personal "wow" factor is. I wanted to discover what made me different from all the other college students looking for careers in the communications field.

After class, we all went out for a class dinner at Waikiki Beach Club and it was such a good time. The food was incredible and our reservation was right around sunset so we watched the sun go down and took some pictures at the beach. We got the chance to really sit and talk with everyone on the trip including Sami and Meryl. I loved getting to know one another and talking about what we were looking forward too for the week ahead.  After dinner we went to bed early and excited for tomorrow!
