GENERAL TIPS
Below are some general tips for travel, attire, dining, and how to spend your free time while in the South of France.

-
What to pack! For clothing bring lots of basics that work for multiple outfits, a couple of fun statement outfits, dressy business casual for the festival, dinner/going-out attire, 3-4 pairs of shoes, A GOOD BAG that fits a lot and make sure nothing is super thick or heavy.
-
How to travel! Dress comfortably on the plane, wear compression socks, have all your passports/IDs organized (make sure you actually have your passport a few months in advance, unlike what I did) sleep on the plane as much as you can but to avoid jet lag stay awake until nighttime CET and don't nap, it will be worth it in the long run.
-
Where to eat! I recommend trying to make a list of restaurants you want to go to and plan which days you want to go to them, you can make reservations if you want but on festival days timing can be unpredictable. There are a ton of restaurants right near the Palais but don't fall for the tourist trap ones, their food is not that good.

How to spend free time! You will have the designated down time days but you also will find some free time during the days that have planned activities. My recommendation is don't stress trying to and see all of the South of France during your free time, if you have the energy then go for it, but if not theres a ton to do right in Cannes. One of my favorite days was just sitting at a beach club in Cannes relaxing all day.
